As pointed out as of now there are a wide range of programming houses who make database programming, for example, Microsoft, Oracle and IBM to name the huge players in the market. SQL Server, Oracle Database and DB2 are the names of their product, individually. The greater part of the diverse programming stages as of now specified make them thing in like manner and that is the model whereupon they are altogether based; that being the social model. This model has been around since the 70s and embraced by a great deal of the now huge players in the market. Every product house has actualized the model in a marginally extraordinary manner however they are in a general sense the same. Since they are altogether comparable it would be workable for somebody with a foundation in, say, Oracle to figure out how to utilize Microsoft's SQL Server before long. The range of abilities is unquestionably transferable. A dialect called Structured Query Language (SQL) is utilized to control and cooperate with the database. Diverse makers have marginally unique goes up against this dialect yet are comparable. For instance, Oracle utilize something many refer to as SQL and SQL Server they call it T-SQL. They accomplish a similar result however for the most part with different syntax.

From the Windows Start menu, select Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) OR select Run, enter "odbcad32" without the double quotes and click OK. In the ODBC Data Source Administrator, select the System DSN tab. Select the OpenEdge ODBC driver appropriate for the OpenEdge version of the database to be connected. Drift Boss

To connect to a Progress database, you can use the following syntax:

```
jdbc:datadirect:openedge://yourserver:port;databaseName=yourdatabase;user=yourusername;password=yourpassword
```

This syntax will vary depending on your specific setup, so make sure to replace "yourserver", "port", "yourdatabase", "yourusername", and "yourpassword" with your actual information. Hope this helps!
