In this tutorial we will look at the video feature of Noventri Suite. This feature brings basic, full screen, high definition, horizontal video playback to the SF-200.

There are a few things to take note of before we get started:

• The supported video formats with this release are MPEG4 and WMV, so make sure to use either of these formats when rendering your videos in your video editing applications.

• Noventri Suite supports video resolutions up to 1080p. For best playback quality, the resolution of the Noventri Suite project and the resolution of your video should match. For example, in this tutorial, the project is set up for 1280 x 720. And that is the resolution of our video as well.

• Besides this tutorial, there are some other suggested resources you will want to check out. In the Noventri Suite Design Manual, we have added a section that takes you through, step by step, using the video feature.

• Also on our forum you can view or download a Video Feature Guide, which gives a more in-depth look into this feature as well as suggestions to get the most use out of it.

Now let’s get started. In Noventri Suite, you can either create a new project or open an existing one. Again, we need to make sure that the project resolution and the resolution of the video are the same. To check the projects’ resolution, click on ‘edit’ and go to project properties. Here, the project is in 1280 x 720 and our video is the same, so we’re good to proceed.

In the design tab, we will add our video by clicking the ‘add video page’ button. Here we see a reminder that the video feature is for full screen video only. Also, there’s a disclaimer to make sure that you have permission to use the media you’ll be showing. In the properties panel, let’s name the page ‘Safety Video’ and save it. Next browse to the location of the video we want and select it. Make sure it is an MPEG4 or WMV video file format. Click open and now the video has been added to the page.

We can add the video page into a sequence with existing pages or put it in its own sequence if we’d like to have the video play in a continuous loop. Next, save, publish and schedule as you normally would with the Noventri Suite project, and you will have digital signage content that now includes video playback.
For a closer look at how the Noventri Suite video feature interacts with things such as transitions, still content pages, vertical layouts, thumbnail previews and audio, please review the Noventri Suite Design Manual and our Video Feature Guide.
