Hi,

I would like to know more for the SF-100e related to external Data application.

"Must be able to connect to various data sources including SQL, Oracle, XML, Text File, etc... either directly or through ODBC "

Can you provide me more detail information.

Thank you.

Hello kwchang,

The SF-100e, along with Noventri Digital Signage Suite Software, can utilize various sources of external data, and can connect to any ODBC compliant database (SQL, mySQL, Oracle, Access, Text, CSV, etc.)

With connectivity to your database, the possibilities are endless. The SF-100e can process any data stored within the database.
Databases can be updated to update content, instead of editing your content inside of Noventri Suite.

A perfect example of how this can be used is digital menu boards; prices on digital menu boards can be changed at all locations instantly, simply by changing them in a centrally located database. Database applications are also commonly used for meeting rooms. Noventri Suite can make use of the time in which an event begins and ends to automatically change content on the screen at the appropriate time.

Based on the amount of data in a database, Noventri Suite can also dynamically create pages. For example; if there are 25 items in your database and you're displaying 5 items on each page, Noventri Suite will automatically generate 5 pages. If you were to alter your database so that it only contains 10 items, Noventri Suite would know that only 2 pages are required and change accordingly.

Full in-depth documentation for setting up databased content will be added to the Noventri Suite manual soon.

Until then, we offer Consultation for those unfamiliar with setting up databases. Contact us at 301-790-0103 (1-800-359-1858 U.S.) or sales@noventri.com for more information.

We also offer our content services at $99/slide to set up your databased content for you. Once your databased content is set up, chances are you won't need to touch Noventri Suite again.

If you have any further questions, let me know!

Thanks,

-Trent

Hello Mark,

While the official documentation for databasing is still in the works, you can refer to Tim Rollins' walkthrough posts here for databasing and binding: http://www.noventri.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=225 and http://www.noventri.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=112 (which I believe you have already found). They are complete with several photos to illustrate step-by-step how to connect and utilize a database.

If you would like additional or more specific assistance, we're always happy to help over the digital signage forum - and we do offer consultation over the phone (Contact us at 301-790-0103 or sales@noventri.com for more information).

Kind Regards,
