I have seen references to both of these, is there a difference between sf-100a and sf-100e?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

SF-100 was a network only player.
SF-100a added USB for sneaker-net.
Both of the above were not available for retail sale, but only as a part of an installation and are both discontinued.

SF-100b and SF-100c never made it to production and all the enhancements were rolled into a complete redesign for the current production model, the SF-100e.
