Manufacturing Facilities Can Benefit From Databased Digital Signage Content

by | Jul 10, 2014

Manufacturing is about creating the best product with the most automation possible. Keeping the workforce up to date with current statuses and production metrics should be an automated process, too. Especially if the information is already stored in a database such as Excel, SQL, Oracle or any other ODBC compliant database. If an ERP / MES system is being used, one of these databases is already in place.

For instance, the efficiency of machinery is often tabulated into a database as to how much is it producing and how fast is it running. Having these metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Inicators) displayed helps operators know the current state of the machine and watch for changes in production.

On the factory floor, workers can be kept up to date on their own production levels and safety metrics, as these are entered by team leaders and shift supervisors. Even HR announcements can be pulled from employee databases in regards to company events and work anniversaries.

With digital signage that can pull these KPIs  and data metrics into an eye catching format, increased awareness and production from all the staff is much easier to obtain. The workload is not increased on anyone to get these communications published, so the stellar workflow is a win-win.

Manufacturing, databases, and digital signage. They are a good fit together, as there is much information that needs stored and sorted, and then shown to the correct people.
