Introduction

Charlotte  – My name is Charlotte Seibert. I am the business manager at the Washington County Free Library.

Patricia  – I am Patricia Wishard and I do public relations and adult programming for the library system.

Ian  – My name is Ian Seibert. I am the chief technology officer for the Washington County Free Library.

Charlotte  – We were looking for digital signage because this building is twice as big as the old building. We needed something to help us guide people to what they were looking for.

Why Digital Signage

Patricia  – We had posters and fliers all over the place. In order to space those out it kind of filled the old library. People did not really know where to go to find the information.

Charlotte  –  I have noticed on several occasions, families would be coming in the front door and the digital signage is right there. They can see the map. They can see what is going on. They can see where they are going to go.

Choosing Noventri

We had the opportunity to review several companies. We found Noventri suited our needs. During the course of the construction, we did have a couple of meetings to be sure that the process was going to be smooth, the locations were going to be proper, that we would get the best exposure available for the locations that we had chosen.

Ian  – The installation went very smoothly. It was quiet, out of the way of the public and the staff that were working and all the mess was cleaned up. Everything was done in a timely manner and everything looked very professionally done at the end of the day.

Using Noventri

Ian  -With all the new technology that we are supporting here at the library, the digital signage is one thing that we never have to touch. Pat Wishard, our PR person, does all of the programming and the changes in the system and it is something that I literally never get phone calls about.

Patricia  – We did find early in the game that we were leaving the screens on too long. So we were able to adjust the time span for each TV screen.

Ian  – I was involved with a couple of presentations from vendors and I asked them, I said, “Does this kiosk…will it turn itself on and off so that we do not have to have someone come do it?”

And they were like,” Nobody does that.”

I said,” Well, you see that sign right beside it? That sign actually turns itself off, on at 9 am every morning and turns itself off at 9 pm every night.”

They were like,” No, no it does not do that”.

I was like,” Yeah, it does.”

Patricia  – In fact, I still call occasionally or e-mail for questions that I just have not figured out how to do yet. Usually I get an e-mail response back in the very same day.

Ian  – One of the main goals of the construction of the new library was to bring a lot of new technology into the building and make it available to the public. And I think that in addition to the Noventri signage, all the computers, the self-check out machines, has done that and it makes the building much more user friendly and less staff interactive as well as provides a technology driven experience to all our patrons.
